I won’t say what they mean. You’ll have to wait and see!
I’ve been toying around with the idea of making an iOS game, so I started to prototype.
I’ve been playing around with different shaders, and transparency was the first thing to come to mind. I was wondering if transparency is a viable solution to obstacles that are in front of (and blocked by) the player, so I made this.
It add a new dimension of challenge, and a fair one. You can see all the obstacles and there are no impossible solutions. I’m going to keep toying around with it and see what other interesting obstacles I can throw at the player. I still can’t shake the feeling that I’m on to something…
The music is by newgrounds user ‘iCafe’.
I made it in a few hours. You can play it here.
The song (if you haven’t heard of it before) is Gymnopedie No. 1 by the legendary Erik Satie.
This is what I have so far, and I’m liking it! I recommend using a keyboard and mouse, but you might be able to pull off a trackpad. It’s still a bit buggy since it’s really rough draft.
This demo encompasses some ideas for the first world, but more levels/enemies are still to be added.
The art in the game still needs a major overhaul, but the music will probably stay in. The music is by newgrounds users Calamaistr and Adisky. They both give that care free, nostalgia type of music which adds to the charm/game effect.
Note: The game is very silly/upbeat.
I’ve been working on mine for a while now, and this is what I have so far. Number one rule: Treat the player with respect and not like an idiot.
I’ve been designing the levels, and have designed 4 so far (all playable in the demo above) Still plenty of work to do!
(On a side note: My programmer art is horrendous, and the spacing issues are driving me up the wall)
So I’ve made a little demo of third person controls and movement in Unity. All the scripts/code is custom. I’ll probably build upon this and make something interesting. The driving force behind this is to make something with fast and fluid movement.
You can play it here (requires a small Unity plugin):
Movement: W, A, S, D
Look Around: Mouse
Move faster: Left shift
